Balakrishna’s ‘Jai Simha’ is a typical mass-masala movie with old-style narrative and cliched sequences. Some episodes in the first half hold interest though. This is strictly for Balayya’s fans and lovers of old-style masala movies.

The first half of 'Jai Simha' sets the pace for the film well, making one curious to where this is all heading. But post-interval, the film takes not just a predictable path, but also a borderline nonsensical one. Brahmanandam is a delight to watch on-screen, even if the comedic track seems forced in an otherwise serious film. The song 'Ammakutti' draws wolf-whistles from the crowd, for Balayya's moves and the massy lyrics, but the rest of the songs are lukewarm. 'Jai Simha' is good for a one-time watch, and is purely just for the 'Jai Balayya' fans.

Overall, “Jai Simha” is as predictable as any mass movie, as old fashioned as the movie’s archaic storyline, and the narration is as cliched as K S Ravikumar’s recent movies. On the whole, Jai Simha is a typical mass masala entertainer in true Balakrishna style. The added advantage of the film is the emotional angle during the climax. The film is clearly aimed at the masses and will do well with all Balakrishna fans. But the roller coaster effect of the film can get to the regular audience at times. If you are the one who does not mind the regular commercial narration, this film ends up as a one time watch this festival season.

On the whole Jai Simha is a tried and tested commercial entertainer, which banks on Balayya’s screen presence but doesn’t entertain you as intended.
